by Bob Pandolfo

Bob Pandolfo offers his picks for the $10,000 Pick-4 at The Red Mile on Oct. 9, part of the USTA Strategic Wagering program.

Red Mile Pick-4, Races 6-9, Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011

$2 play: 1/1-10/57/610= $16.00

Analysis:

Race 6: Excellent card today and a quality Pick 4 sequence. I wish I was at the Red Mile! Big Rigs ran well behind the great Manofmanymissions in last over this track, which he seems to like. He is peaking while several of the other three year olds in this race are going in the wrong direction. I’ll single Big Rigs.

Race 7: Just Crowned was shuffled back in last and finished fast in his first start with Gingras in the bike. Rhombus has post 10 but he held the show against faster in last. I’ll use these two and hope that the better price wins.

Race 8: Alsace Hanover seems too fast for these but he also seems to prefer five eighth size tracks. I’m sure a lot of bettors will single him here but I’m going to throw in Feel Like A Fool. He held okay without cover in last and I like the fact that he took his career mark of 1:49.4 over this track as a two year old last year.

Race 9: This late closer is pretty interesting. Melvyn is a tough 3yo gelding who races gamely. Last week he had a horrible trip when he was knocked off stride early behind a snail-like :29.1 first quarter yet came all the way back with bold wide move to win. Mysterious Moment also had a tough trip over the track in last. He left, tucked, was badly shuffled back and finished fast to get the place behind Melvyn. I’ll use both of them.
