Pink Sweater aiming for two at Rosecroft

Ft. Washington, MD — After winning by a half-length last week, Pink Sweater will try for a repeat in the $4,200 Winner’s Over Pace for fillies and mares at Rosecroft Raceway on Friday, May 16.

Trained by John Sumner, the sophomore daughter of Badlands Hanover drew the rail position in a field of six. Jonathan Roberts will be aboard for the drive, and the pair is marked as the 7-5 morning line choice. Sumner co-owns the filly with William Camp, Jr.

You Diehl should be competition at 5-2 morning line odds from post two. With Sean Bier in the bike, the 5-year-old Western Ideal mare finished second to Pink Sweater last week in 1:56.1. Ron MacArthur trains and co-owns the winner of over $65,000 lifetime with Richard Smith.

Other contenders include Real Gambler (Chris Offutt, 10-1), Derrylin (Ken Weckstein, 10-1), Dig Alittle Deeper (Frank Milby, 4-1) and Funny Lil Grin (Wayne Long, 6-1).

Keigan, Buck I D favored as entry in trot

The Manley Brown, Jr. trainer entry of Keigan and Buck I D are marked at 5-2 morning line odds in the $4,200 Winner’s Over Trot.

Last week, Keigan won by over a length in 1:58 with John Wagner in the sulky. This week, the 6-year-old March Seventh horse will start from post five with owner Scott Woogen at his lines.

Buck I D picks up the driving services of Wagner and will start from post two. The 4-year-old Superstar Sahbra gelding, owned by Ken Weckstein, was fifth last time out with a mile in 2:00.

At 3-1 morning line odds, Goodbye Daddy is a strong contender with owner Frank Milby in the sulky. Last week, the 6-year-old Master Lavec gelding was second to Keigan with a strong mile. Don Milby trains the winner of over $125,000 lifetime.

Town Meister (Robert Hoffman, 7-2), Eagle Road (Victor Kirby, 4-1), Los Barvos (Sean Beir, 5-1) and Amber Alert (Sam Belote, 6-1) complete the field.

Post time for Friday’s 11-race card is 6:30 p.m.

Preakness events set for Saturday

Many exciting events are set for Saturday in celebration of the Preakness. Rosecroft will pay 10 percent more on win wagers placed at Rosecroft on the Preakness. Several prize drawings will take place throughout the evening, and similar to Derby day, there will be a drawing for a betting voucher after each of Rosecroft’s races from the second to the 11th. The value of the vouchers will progress by $100 each race starting with a $100 voucher and ending with a $1,000 voucher.

There will be a drawing for a 42” Plasma TV for those entrants who registered at Rosecroft on Derby day.

Happy hour specials will run from 5:30–8:00 p.m., and a special Preakness lunch and dinner will be held in the dining room. The Mama Jama Band will be playing from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
