Cal Expo racing analyst Gregg Pistochini offers his picks for the $10,000 Pick 4 at Cal Expo Raceway on May 12, part of the USTA Strategic Wagering program. Cal Expo Raceway Pick 4, Races 6-9, Thursday, May 12, 2011 Every Thursday night through the end of the current meeting, both Pick 4s feature a reduced 15 percent takeout and the Late Pick 4 comes with a $10,000 guaranteed gross pool. I have put together a $45 ticket for Thursday’s Late Pick 4, which begins on the sixth race. $1 play: 12457/156/267/6 = $45 Analysis: In the opening leg I use five of the seven pacers in Mighty Kicker (1), Irish Whiskey (2), Letter Of Intent (4), My Tryin Ryan (5) and Miss In Love (7). In race seven I go three deep, using Paul The Powerful (1), Little Box Out (5) and Wrangler Reward (6). In the penultimate leg, I will go with Say It Best (2), Meringue (6) and Bobby Baccala (7). My single comes in the final leg with King Carver (6) anchoring the ticket. He’s looked good in both his Cal Expo starts and should have too much speed for this field.
