Pocono Downs teaming in fight against breast cancer

Wilkes-Barre, PA — Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs will be hosting the Mildred Williams International Female Driving Series on Friday afternoon, June 20.

For the second straight year, a group of premier female drivers, including Stacy Chiodo, Whitney Goodblood, Theresa Donnelly, Linda MacDonald, Betsy Phillips, Anne Schlichtig, Anne Marie Turenne and Valerie Warnick, will be teaming with Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in the fight against breast cancer.

Drivers will be donating their purses to the Northeastern Pennsylvania Susan G. Komen Foundation. Track management and the Pennsylvania Harness Horsemen’s Association will also make donations of $1,500 each to the Komen Foundation.

All women, 21 years of age and attending this special day of racing, will have the opportunity of winning one of eight great prizes from The Sapphire Salon and Destination Spa in Pittston. Entry blanks will be available in the racing lobby area. Prizes will include the grand prize of a Sapphire Hawaiian destination spa escape package for two.

Second prize is a four-carat spa package that includes steam-sauna session, footbath, gemstone massage, facial, pedicure and manicure, lunch and gift basket. Third and fourth prizes are a 60-minute Sapphire massage with the fifth and sixth prizes being a 60-minute Sapphire facial. Seventh and eighth prizes are a 45-minute and 60-minute Sapphire manicure and pedicure.

One must be present with proper photo identification to win and random drawings will take place following the fourth race.

Admission and parking are always complimentary at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. Post time is 2:00 p.m.
