Polo Jenn takes Mares Open at Northfield

by Keith Gisser, director of publicity, Northfield Park

Northfield, OH — Polo Jenn ($7.40) used a powerful quarter move to take control of Friday’s (November 9) $7,500 Mares Open Pace at Northfield, posting a comfortable 1:55.1 win for owner Jack Shearer, trainer Jeff Cox and driver Ryah Stahl.

Polo Jenn, a 7-year-old Polo Player mare, posted fractions of :28.2, :57.2 and 1:26.3 en route to her 10th seasonal win, which pushed her career bankroll to $237,689. She is the second richest Polo Player offspring, just behind Wesley Snip, with $245,000 in career earnings. Look To Book used a pocket sitting effort to get the place money after taking a brief early lead, while Dynastar was third.

There will be a $3,881.72 Pick Four carryover at Northfield on Saturday night, as the wager went unsolved when Polo Jenn won the final leg. Longshot winners Be My Valentine ($56.20) and Meg Attack ($27.60) were instrumental in the Pick Four not being hit. Both were driven by Jason Thompson.
