Poppy Lustre N favored in Mare Open at Dover

DOVER, DE. – Poppy Lustre N was assigned the outside post 7 after her victory last week in the $27,500 Mare Open/Handicap pace in the Tuesday, Feb. 20 feature race at Dover Downs. The $23,000 Jr. Mares Open tops the strong female dominated undercard. First post is 4:30 p.m.

Tim Tetrick drives Poppy Lustre N for owners Wayne Pryor Estate and Wendy Crissman and the combination has responded with three wins, two seconds and two thirds since the New Year began. Nick Callahan’s Riddlemethat took the passing lane with Corey Callahan at the controls to finish second while Tom Vine and Crystal Ball Stable’s I’m All In with Ron Pierce was third. JoAnn King and JEB Enterprises’ Shake Away and Jim King, won the Jr. Open last time, and steps back up this week into the Open ranks.

Don Hawk, John Hynansky and trainer Dan Warrington’s Dance Hall leaves from the rail for Steve Warrington while Only Money Inc.’s Badlands Iron Lady returns for her first 2007 start with Jim Morand driving.

There are two new faces, both winners last week, in the $23,000 Mares Jr. Open. Tony Morgan drives Tom Ireland and Ron Killen’s Flirtwithedealer from the rail while Charles Nitkowski’s All About Winning with Jim Morand has a three-race win streak going. Cavalli Pazzi Stables’ Casino Bus has the services of Tim Tetrick. Ain’t Goin Back, owned by Rick MacLeish and Kathleen Stafford was second last time and Ben Stafford Jr. is his driver. Chris and Phil Stefani’s Dream-A-While, with Art Stafford Jr., Three Point Acres’ Ultimate Bet, steered by Tony Morgan, Firiel Hanover owned by Atlanta Falcons linebacker Demorrio Williams and Teague Inc. will be driven by Ron Pierce while Brad Hanners drives North State Street Stable and Harness The Power’s Cat Power.

A $17,500 and two $17,000 Mares Winners-Over paces, a $14,000 pace for young females and a $10,000 trot are also on the Tuesday card.
