Dover, DE — Prince Of Luck did it again, winning the $32,500 Delaware Special Invitational for the third straight time on Monday, November 19 at Dover Downs. Tim Tetrick moved closer to the all-time single season dash title by driving six winners, while Ross Wolfenden and trainer Josh Green had four winners each.

Prince Of Luck (#5) holds off Beware Beret (#6) by a neck to win the Delaware Special.

In the feature, Prince Of Luck needed a lifetime best 1:51.1 performance to win for the third consecutive week in his familiar off-the-pace drive to victory. Again Ross Wolfenden waited while Thin Blue Line (Mike Cole) and the Eddie Davis, Jr.-driven Immortal Quest N battled head to head for much of the last half. As he has done now for three weeks, Wolfenden moved the Wayne Givens conditioned Prince Of Luck up on the outside and then three wide turning for home before speeding into the lead on the way to his 10th win of the year for owners Bonnie Allen and Brenda Harper. It was the third win of the day for Wolfenden.

Sharky Osborne took the lead early in the $26,000 Open Pace and Tim Tetrick drove the Josh Green-trained Cam’s Card Shark gelding to a 1:51.2 victory, holding off fast finishing Chris Riley N and Ross Wolfenden by a head. The win was the third in four starts and 10th of the year for owners Gary Minner and Peter Richardson. Early leader Bullion Bill A (Ron Pierce) was third.

The number six came up big for driver Tim Tetrick and pacer Wynnfield Flash in a $21,000 Winners Over Pace. Tetrick took the Virginia-bred altered son of Spirited Style to the front and never looked back on the way to a personal best 1:51.4 victory, the sixth of the night for Tetrick and sixth straight for Wynnfield Flash, owned by Larry Baron. Xlb Joker, a 35-1 shot with George Dennis driving, closed fast for second in front of Bachelorboy and Ron Pierce. Wynnfield Flash has now won 12 times in 19 lifetime races, earning $74,850 in his brief career.

Clinton Longshot, one of the 2006 season’s rags-to-riches stories, got back to the winner’s circle in the first $21,000 Winners Over Pace. Ross Wolfenden hustled the Dauntless Bunny-sired gelding, owned by Richards Stable Inc., down the lane to catch front-pacing Fields Of Honour A and Eddie Davis, Jr. to score a 1:53.2 victory. Seelstars Bluejean finished third for Tim Tetrick.

Tim Tetrick picked up the second of his six wins by guiding veteran Chewy Gross, owned by Martin Scharf, to a 1:51.2 triumph in a second $21,000 Winners Over. Mike Cole sent Mattazuma along the passing lane to finish a close second with Quick And Deadly, the early leader with Tony Morgan, holding on for third.

Ladyfield one to beat in $26,000 Filly and Mares Open Pace

A victory in last week’s Tuesday feature by Ladyfield asserted her place as the one to beat in the $26,000 Filly and Mare Open Pace on November 20 at Dover Downs. First post is 4:30 p.m.

Ladyfield, a modest priced purchase late last year by trainer Vic Keeler for his mother, Joyce, sister, Kathleen, and sister-in-law, Linda, came on strong to nip Ricky Pryor and Wendy Crissman’s fast finishing Poppy Lustre N by a nose in 1:51.3 for Tony Morgan in the top distaff event of the week. The only filly in the field, Only Money Inc. and Teague Inc.’s Betting Machine, was the third-place finisher. Ladyfield drew the rail with Nanny Withafanny and Jim Morand alongside.

Returning after a one week vacation is Yada Yada Yada N, owned by Ken Wood, Henry King, Steve Iaquinta and Bill Dittmar, winner of this event three weeks ago. Andrew Stafford’s Valkyrie Hanover, piloted by Eddie Davis, Jr., steps up after an impressive 1:52.3 triumph last week.

The other contenders are Bill and Richard Fritts’ Fritzie Bunnie, reined by Ross Wolfenden, and Hopefull N, making her first start since August for Preston Walls, Chad Tate and Kyle Daugherty.

Monday through Thursday post time is 4:30 p.m. No racing on Friday. Saturday and Sunday racing begins at 5:30 p.m. There is no charge for parking or admission. Reservations are suggested for the Winner’s Circle Restaurant. Call (302) 674-4600.
