by Keith Gisser, director of publicity, Northfield Park

Northfield, OH — Yvette Prundenzano and Basil Kellis’ Pure Jesse won his fourth straight race on Monday night (June 11) easily taking Northfield’s $8,000 Open Trot in gate-to-wire fashion in a lifetime best 1:57.1.

The 4-year-old Jailhouse Jesse gelding posted fractions of :27.4, :57.1 and 1:27.1 en route to the win over the mare Pine Hill Jewel, who got a perfect two-hole trip, but could not close on the winner. Blastaway Sahbra raced well from post eight to get the show money.

Virgil Morgan, Jr. trains Pure Jesse and he called on red hot Brett Miller to drive for his Maine owners. Pure Jesse is four of five this year and 15 of 25 in his career.

Miller won four races on the card, while Aaron Merriman continued to heat up with a three-bagger.
