Monday’s (July 27) edition of Racing Roundup features a results story from Batavia Downs.

2009 season opens at Batavia Downs

Batavia, NY — Live racing returned to Batavia Downs on Monday evening. The feature race was the fourth on the card, which was a conditioned/optional claiming pace with a purse of $6,200.

Racing to victory was Hi Cee Tee R with Ron Beback, Jr. in the driver’s seat, pacing the mile in 1:57.1. Silver Delivery with Jack Flanigen was a half-length behind in second while Mr Sundin with Kevin Cummings in the sulky came in the show position.

Hi Cee Tee R is a veteran 11-year-old gelding by Falcon Seelster. Myra Dunn owns the pacer and driver Ron Beback, Jr. is his trainer. The winning mutuel price was $5.70.

A newcomer to Batavia Downs, Jimmy Whisman, was the driving star of the evening with a four-bagger.
