Jay Randall piloted Chausettes Blanche to a 1:54.1 score.

The 6-year-old mare won her first ever open at Saratoga as driver Jay Randall moved the favorite at the half. After collaring the leader, it was name your margin time for the razor sharp mare as Randall appeared to have plenty left in the tank when Chausettes Blanche reported home a 6-1/2 length winner. The win in 1:54.1 was the fastest mile thus far in the young 2009 season at Saratoga.

Chausettes Blanche was a third place finisher in her first shot at the Spa open this year, coming up just short while enduring a difficult first over trip. Easy Feelin (Kim Crawford) wound up second on Sunday while Take A Peek N (Dan Cappello, Jr.) ended up third.

Last year’s leading driver Frank Coppola, Jr. has picked up right where he left off last season and has emerged as the top driver again in the early stages of ’09. On Sunday, Coppola piloted four winners on the program.

Racsan John was a 1:53.3 winner in the Sunday feature at Dover.

Vic Kirby made good use of starting from post one in the $14,000 male pace. After getting away third, Kirby moved his game 9-year-old Wynfield Mark-Heavy Thunder veteran into the lead just past the opening quarter and then led the rest of a 1:53.3 mile to win for the first time this year. Don Hawk and trainer Dan Warrington bred and own the veteran gelding and gave him the first name of Racsan, NASCAR spelled backwards. Lennox NZ (Jon Roberts) had a perfect trip sitting second the entire mile with Bad Rusty (Eddie Davis, Jr.) coming on for third.

Ross Wolfenden posted his third win of the night by driving 11-1 Pedo Doc to a come-from-behind 1:54 win in one of two $25,000 claiming paces. The Cam’s Card Shark-Baby Jean gelding posted his second victory of the year for Ken Wood, Bill Dittmar and Steve Iaquinta. Yukon Bobby (Jon Roberts) closed to finish second with Simple Lease (Tony Morgan) third.

Devastating A (Corey Callahan) spent much of the last half-mile racing first over on the outside and still finished second. Smart Nukes (George Dennis) closed to finish third.
