Chausettes Blanche repeats in Saratoga Open

Saratoga Springs, NY — For the second straight Sunday afternoon, Chausettes Blanche bested the featured field of pacing mares.

Chausettes Blanche scored in 1:54.1 in the Filly and Mare Open at Saratoga.

The John Podres trainee was assigned the outside post seven after a romp last Sunday in which she won by more than six lengths while wrapped up. Jay Randall was aboard for both Open scores for the talented mare who scored her fourth victory of 2009, having raced throughout the winter at Yonkers Raceway.

The 6-year-old mare stopped the timer in 1:55 this week after airing last Sunday in 1:54.1. Princess Michi, who won the first $15,000 Filly and Mare Open this season at the Spa, finished second while Maddy Seelster earned the show spot.

Sniper Hall wins Dover feature

Dover, DE — Sniper Hall captured the $14,000 feature over a “sloppy” track at Dover Downs on Sunday.

Sniper Hall held off Tacos Du Ruisseau by a head in the Dover feature.

Mike Cole recorded his 998th winning drive, piloting Sniper Hall to a 1:53.3 triumph in the $14,000 male pace. Tacos Du Ruisseau (Frank Milby) closed with a rush along the passing lane to finish second, missing the victory by a head. Mr Ricky N (Corey Callahan), in his first U.S. start, was third.

Lauren Allen and Foulk Stables own the son of Blissfull Hall-Spectre Almahurst, who was a winner for the second time this year.

The card filled with streaks continued for some winners, while others ended. Dragon’s Blood, a sweep winner of the recent “Go The Distance” trio of races continued his winning ways as Ross Wolfenden picked up his second win on the card, driving the Dragon Again-Canaco Model gelding to his sixth win in a row, stepping up from the $10,000 claiming ranks to the $20,000 level. Marty Tyme (Vic Kirby) was a head back in second. Rets Lil Giant (Eddie Davis, Jr.) took third spot. Greg Simendinger owns Dragon’s Blood, trained by Eli Scott, and now a winner of seven races in eight 2009 starts.

In another $20,000 Delaware claiming allowance, Art And Donna ended Yankee Skyfire’s six race win streak when Justin Hite drove the Artsplace-Allgreektome gelding to victory in 1:55.2 for Robbins Next Farm and Wendy Crissman. Yankee Skyfire (Callahan) secured second with pacesetting Buckmaker (Brandon Givens) third.
