Wilkes Barre, PA — North America’s leading trainer Ron Burke collected three training wins through the first 10 races Friday (Nov. 6) night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.

In the $25,000 claiming pace feature it was Derek Bromac N winning in 1:52.4.

Andrew McCarthy was in the sulky with Derek Bromac, a 9-year-old gelding that was winning for the ninth time in 37 starts in 2009.

Lindy’s Bandit, a 5-year-old Bettor’s Delight gelding with Anthony Napolitano in the sulky, was another Burke winner. Lindy’s Bandit stopped the timer in 1:51.4 and won for the fourth time in 14 outings this season.

Burke’s third victory came in the 10th race with No Nonsense Yankee, a 6-year-old pacing gelding. This was the second win in seven starts for No Nonsense Yankee, who stopped the timer in 1:54.2.

Shutter Boy, Monochromatic win Friday features at Yonkers

Yonkers, NY— Shutter Boy (Yanniick Gingras) and Monochromatic (Jim Pantaleano) garnered the glory Friday night, winning Yonkers Raceway’s pair of $40,000 Open Handicaps.

The 3-4 favorite took over in early stretch, then widened to three lengths at the wire in 1:56.4…not quite the 1:54.3 effort of a week a ago, but more than good enough here.

Bet to Win (Dan Dube) was the best of the rest, with Victor’s Vicky (Jordan Stratton), Napoleon (Jason Bartlett) and Woody Woodrow (Pantaleano)
completing the cashers.

For Shutter Boy, a 4-year-old Yankee Glide gelding trained by John McDermott for owner Scott Brannon, he paid $3.50 for his ninth win in 31 ’09 tries.

Monochromatic, at 32-1 from post position No. 2, was parked two turns and on one line early. However, after grabbing the lead from odds-on Cruzin Foralivin N (Gingras), the outsider rolled on.

Monochromatic defeated “Hannah” by a length-and-a-three-quarters in 1:54.2, with Sentbytheangels (Ryan Anderson), Chris Cross (Cat Manzi) and Lightning Treasure (Stephane Bouchard) grabbing the small change.

For Monochromatic, a 4-year-old daughter of Dream Away owned by Harness the Power and trained by Kevin Lare, she returned $67 (seventh choice) for her third win 18 seasonal starts.

Prime Interest wins again at Saratoga

Saratoga, NY — Another Friday night, another open trot win for Prime Interest at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway.

The Colin Johnson trainee had a daunting task ahead of him as the two favorites, Grain Of Truth (Ray Schnittker) and Pablo Angus (Dan Cappello Jr), drew inside of him and lined up in front of him on the chilly fall night in Saratoga.

Prime Interest followed the move of Pablo Angus at three-quarters and surged by his rivals in the stretch to secure his tenth open trot win of the season. Frank Coppola Jr was again in the sulky for owner Vince Laurenzo of Clifton Park, NY.

While Pablo Angus has had another terrific year at the Spa, Prime Interest is putting in a real challenge to that one for the track’s top honors which will be handed out in December, at the conclusion of the tracks’ 69th racing season.
