JK Lullabye was a 1:52 winner in the Delaware Special on Monday.

Corey Callahan found room along the “Dover Driveway,” piloting Todd Wise’s 6-1 shot JK Lullabye to a win in the $37,500 feature. Steeler and Eric Goodell had led until reaching the finish line. Hot N Sporty, the race favorite, was a close up third with Tony Morgan in the bike. An altered son of Bettor’s Delight-JK Lady Like, JK Lullabye posted his first win of the season to go along with a second and three thirds in seven races. He has earned $31,870 in 2009.

In only his second start after a brief rest at the end of last year, Gary Minner and Pete Richardson’s Sharky Osborne, last season’s Horse of the Meet, returned to winning form with a near wire-to-wire 1:52.1 victory in the $32,000 Open with Eric Goodell holding the reins. The Josh Green-conditioned Cam’s Card Shark-Shady Past gelding finished second, beaten a head, last week. Cool Cal enjoyed a two-hole trip with Tim Tetrick to finish second. George At Bigs closed well for Callahan for third place honors.

Fields Of Honour A rolled down the passing lane with Vic Kirby to overtake Floyd Bromac N (Tetrick) in the last steps for a 1:52.3 victory in the $26,000 Winners Over Pace. Carter Racing Stable and trainer Bobby Myers own the Fake Left-Classic Garry gelding who was winning for the second time this year. That’s Justice (Mark Gingrich) took show honors.

Mr Apples and Jim Morand never looked back in a 1:51.4 triumph in the $22,000 male pace. The Teague Inc. owned Bettor’s Delight-Never In Paris 5-year-old won for the second time this year. Mount Olympus was a strong second with Tetrick driving. Anglebrook and Eric Goodell were the third place finishers.

Karpathos wires the field at Isle Pompano Park

Pompano Beach, FL — Karpathos ($5.40) and driver Wally Hennessey had little trouble leading from start to finish in capturing the $16,000 Open Handicap Trot on Monday at the Isle Pompano Park.

The 8-year-old gelded son of Balanced Image posted his third win in seven starts this year by barely holding off a late charge from 21-1 Cisco Hall (Dan Clements) to score by a head in 1:55.3. Too Salty (Mark O’Mara) was third.

Owned and trained by Geoff Howles, it was the 30th career victory for Karpathos.

Foggy Lane K, Irresistible Mel head for series showdown

Meadow Lands, PA — Foggy Lane K and Irresistible Mel moved closer to a clash in the final of the Big Tarp series for 3- and 4-year-old trotting colts and geldings, as each captured his second straight division on Monday at The Meadows. Must Be Psychic took the second legs’ third $12,000 split.

Sitting in behind a dawdling :31.2 first quarter, Brett Miller and Foggy Lane K made a decisive move past the quarter and drew off to win by 4-3/4 lengths in 1:59.1. Mystical Patches was all out to save place while King Chip was a rallying third. Charlie Norris trains the 4-year-old son of Lindy Lane-American Misty for Bob Key.

Irresistible Mel and Aaron Merriman had a more demanding trip as they were out at the half and needed the rest of the mile to defeat a game Counsel by a head in 1:58.4. SJ’s Caliente finished third. John Melsheimer trains Irresistible Mel, a 4-year-old gelded son of S J’s Photo-Irresistible Lady, for Mel Rose Stable.

While those two double winners have amassed the strongest series credentials, Must Be Psychic is dealing himself a strong hand as well. He scored wire-to-wire in 1:58.1, fastest of the second leg divisions, for Mike Wilder, trainer Bill Daumit and owner Laura Daumit. Must Be Psychic fell by only a half-length to Foggy Lane K in the series opener.

Miller and Wilder enjoyed driving triples on the 15-race card.
