Callahan wins four once again at Dover

Dover, DE — Red-hot Corey Callahan had four wins, while Tony Morgan and Ron Pierce had three each to highlight the Sunday card at Dover Downs.

Wesmokempeacepipe was a neck winner over Papers Rn The Mail.

Callahan, enjoying his finest season since becoming a regular two years ago, won four races, including a 1:53.4 win in a $20,000 Delaware claiming allowance, steering Rojan Stables’ Wesmokempeacepipe, one of trainer Mike Hall’s two winners.

In a $30,000 claiming allowance pace, the sport’s leading driver in 2008, Tony Morgan, piloted Bill Emmons’ Definitely Maybe to the 8-year-old’s ninth win of year, racing across the finish line in 1:52.2 to edge Ace Boo Koo (Pierce) and Heavenly Flight (Jim Morand) at the wire. The win by the Cole Muffler-Broadway Lead gelding was the third for driver Morgan and the first of two wins for trainer Dylan Davis.

Davis’ other win came in the next race, a $25,000 claiming pace, when Mike Casalino’s Sign Of Class N, a Life Sign gelding out of Smooth Ice, came from off the pace for Ron Pierce to notch a 1:52.4 verdict. Raider’s Legend (Callahan) and Smart Nukes (Ross Wolfenden) were second and third, respectively.

Ron Pierce won his third race in a row, guiding Caerleon Hanover to a 1:51.3 triumph in a $12,500 male pace. The Western Ideal-Camellos gelding was making his first start for Max Walton and Greg Papaleo after being claimed in his previous start for $30,000. Delray (Corey Callahan) finished second with What A View (Brandon Givens) third.
