P H Breakaway was a 1:52.4 winner on Sunday for Brandon Givens.

After five successive starts being claimed, P H Breakaway had no takers this time but the Jenna’s Beach Boy-Keylute gelding still got the job done, winning for the third straight time as Brandon Givens steered the Josh Green-trainee to a 1:52.4 victory in a $30,000 claiming allowance pace for current owner Larry Baron. Sniper Hall (Mike Cole) closed strongly for second with Seelstars Bluejean (Tony Morgan) third.

R Jacki teamed with George Dennis to make a strong dash down the lane to edge leader Change Maker (Mike Cole) in the final step before the finish line for a 1:57.2 triumph in an $11,300 Delaware mares pace. Ideal Justice (Givens) took the show spot.

Cole Diddy does it at The Meadowlands

East Rutherford, NJ — Stake Your Claim Stable’s Cole Diddy darted between horses in the stretch and rallied for a half-length victory in the $13,500 second race for conditioned pacers on Sunday afternoon at the Meadowlands.

Driven by Brian Sears, Cole Diddy posted his first career win in 1:56.1. The 4-year-old son of The Panderosa-Panniversary was making only his tenth lifetime start, but had a pair of seconds and thirds to his credit. Cole Diddy paid $4.20 to win. He will be sold as Hip No. 386 at the 2009 Tattersalls Mixed Sale on Monday afternoon at the Meadowlands.

Both Cole Diddy and second race runner-up Lets Go Surfing are eligible to the Art Unger Stake, a three-week series that begins February 1 and culminates in a $75,000 estimated final. The race is named for the longtime Meadowlands horseman, who passed away at age 73 on March 8, 2008. A trainer for more than 40 years, Unger campaigned Shadyside Trixie and Young Quinn, two of the leading pacers of the 1970s. His top Meadowlands performers also included Allnightcardgame, a winner of more than $200,000, and C The Priest, who earned $183,671.
