Tom’s OK Lady storms home in Meadows Trot

Meadow Lands, PA — Rating patiently despite a howling storm, Tom’s OK Lady unleashed a storm of her own to blow by the leaders and capture the $25,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Trot on Thursday at The Meadows.

The weather front, complete with lightning, thunder, heavy rain and gusty winds, targeted The Meadows minutes before the Preferred field took to the track. When she fell 9-1/2 lengths behind at the quarter, it was unclear if Tom’s OK Lady could rally successfully under such adverse conditions.

But Dave Palone sent her on a third-over journey that cut the deficit to 2-1/2 lengths at the top of the stretch. Tom’s OK Lady swallowed up Hidden Viggorish and went on to defeat that rival by two lengths in 1:56.1. AJ’s Baby finished third.

Ron Burke trains Tom’s OK Lady, a 6-year-old daughter of Inquirer-This Gal’s OK, for Burke Racing Stable, Bethann Palone, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and M1 Stable. It was one of five wins on the 16-race card for Palone.
