Ayers Ratliff offers his picks for the $25,000 Pick-4, the $10,000 Pick-3 and the $5,000 Pick-5 at Northfield Park on Oct. 5, part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.
On Friday (Oct. 5) Northfield Park has announced the addition of a $5,000 guaranteed Pick-5 total pool, $10,000 guaranteed Pick-3 total pool and $25,000 guaranteed Pick-4 total pool. Northfield Park’s Pick-5, Pick-4 and the Pick-3s offer a reduced takeout rate of just 14 percent, the lowest in harness racing.

The $5,000 Pick-5 guaranteed total pool begins in race three and includes a carryover of $1,071.

Race 3: (4) Earls Pearl has proven herself to be a solid contender at this level; looks to be solid again tonight. (5) Angel From Heaven makes a second start back, draws better and has reason to improve. (9) Tom Girl made vast improvements last time and finished second; could win here with a repeat performance.
Race 4: (3) Rhianne looks to be one of the main competitors in this race. (6) Romantic Fever dropped to this level last time and closed well but missed; may not miss tonight.
Race 5: (1) What A Rose drops in class, draws the rail and looks to be the horse to beat. (9) Anxiety Hanover also drops in class and should get a good trip from the second tier.
Race 6: (1) Broadway Petera drops in class, draws the rail and looks to be a tough customer in here. (2) Braggin Hanover could be victorious in her Cleveland debut.
Race 7: (2) Mysteriosa Hanover is a win machine who is not as good as she was earlier in the year. (9) Theprincessdeals won many times earlier this year; looks to be coming back and returning to her winning ways.

Race 10: (1) Lock Up The Last draws the inside advantage and that advantage may be key to a victory tonight. (9) I Think Im Dreamin has been first or second in all of her last six starts; look for that trend to continue.
Race 11: (2) A Patchy Sun came up short last time out; drops in class and does not come up short tonight.
