Ratliff’s Picks: Oct. 5 Nfld

by Ayers Ratliff

On Wednesday, October 5, 2011 Northfield Park is again offering a $10,000 guaranteed pool in the Pick-4. The Pick-4 has a reduced take-out rate of just 14% (the lowest in harness racing) and starts in the eighth race.

Last Wednesday’s $12.00 ticket went four-for-four and hit for a modest $33.20. Since we did not win enough money to do much more than buy some gas to return to the track, we are swinging the bat again for this guaranteed pool. GOOD LUCK!

The Play:

5-6/2-5/2/2-3-5-9 = $16.00

Race 8: 5- Ata Ata – Looks to be in good form, continues to have successful results. 6- Little Gary Perry – Won last start despite being parked the mile, handles the step-up in class if he finds the pylons.

Race 9: 2- Lucca’s Revenge – Looks to land on the engine, may struggle to hold off #5.

5- Spring Fling – Closing hard last start but ran out of racetrack, gets the job done tonight.

Race 10: 2- Yarrows Cruiser – Drops in class, takes this field coast-to-coast.

Race 11: 2- Currently Flying – Has tactical gate speed and Noble in the sulky. 3- Heez Ruthless N – Another who has enough early speed to get a good trip, should be a nice price. 5- Misty’s Dignity – Best horse in here, the question is whether or not he is ready. 9- Guile’s Boy – Drops in class and starts from the second tier.
