by Dave Smith, marketing manager, Flamboro Downs

Dundas, ON — A star-studded cast of 3-year-old horses are entered in Confederation Cup XXXI this Sunday afternoon, August 19, at Flamboro Downs. A total of 20 of the top pacers in North America will vie for the Canadian half-mile championship and the winner’s share of a record C$698,500 purse.

Post time for the Flamboro Downs signature event is 1:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

Three C$50,000 elimination heats will precede the championship race on Canada’s fastest half-mile track. The outstanding race card also features three C$130,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold finals, the C$56,800 Signature Pacing Series final, two C$20,000 preferred paces, a C$20,000 preferred trot and a C$10,000 pace for Grassroots filly starters.

Last year’s winner, Armbro Deuce, paced the final in a scorching 1:50.2, setting Flamboro Downs track and Confederation Cup records and a new Canadian all-age half-mile track mark.
