Campbellville, ON – Red In The Face turned in a brilliant 1:51.3 track-record equaling performance in the fastest of three C$113,362 divisions of the Champlain Stakes for 2-year-old pacing fillies Friday night at Mohawk Racetrack.

The clocking also lowered the Champlain Stakes record of 1:51.4 which was set last year by Southwind Rio.

Red In The Face turned in a 1:51.3 track-record equaling performance Friday night in a division of the Champlain Stakes.

With Jody Jamieson doing the driving, the daughter of Red River Hanover-Pretty Daring left sharply and followed most of the way in the pocket behind pacesetter Voelz Hanover who put up splits of :27, :55.4 and 1:23.1. Turning for home, Jamieson found enough room to work his way out from the pocket and come on by the victory. She held off favorite Thong with Voelz Hanover holding on for the show spot.

The victory for the John Pentland-trained filly was the second in six tries this year for owner Ian Fromowitz of Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Tonight’s opening division saw Lady Annie remain undefeated with a solid 1:53 effort for driver Tim Tetrick. The daughter of Allamerican Native-Hawaiian Radiant scored over All Accounted For and Shake That Junk to run her perfect record to five straight for the Perfect World Enterprises of Old Westbury, New York, and trainer Toby Lynch Jr.

In the second split in race six, Gold Not Silver turned in her second straight win at Mohawk with a sharp two-move effort in 1:53.2. The clocking equaled the lifetime best performance she turned in last time out against non-winners of one types.

In tonight’s contest, driver Chris Christoforou blasted the daughter of No Pan Intended-Silver Seven off the wings, but had to settle for third position in the hotly contested :26.3 first quarter. As the field neared the half, Gold Not Silver shot to the outside and made the front at the half in :55.4. The filly was never challenged the rest of the way and easily held off longshot Sprig Hanover with Enniscrone rallying for the show spot.

The John Kopas trainee is now 2-for-4 in her brief career for the Glengate Farms and Ariel Stables of Ontario.

Racing resumes tomorrow night at Mohawk with another powerful program assembled.

Metro Pace winner Somebeachsomewhere returns in Champlain Stakes action while Pepsi North America Cup champion Tell All will also return to Campbellville to contest the Simcoe Stakes. There will also be a pair of eliminations for the Canadian Trotting Classic with world champion Donato Hanover, the undefeated Val Taurus and the great filly Pampered Princess all competing.
