Revolutionary event for harness racing

Mississauga, ON — This Saturday, July 14, the sport of harness racing will stage a revolutionary event for North American Standardbred racing.

Xtreme Horsepower, which will take place at Georgian Downs beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, has come to fruition after more than a year of intense planning and regulatory approvals.

Standardbred Canada, in partnership with Great Canadian Gaming and the Ontario Harness Horse Association, will present what promises to be one of the most interesting events in Canadian harness racing history.

This industry initiative will focus on innovation and change and will feature unique races never seen before in North America. Several fields of 18 horses, various distances ranging from one-eighth of a mile to three miles, and an Xtreme Match Race highlight the 11-race card. More than C$400,000 in purses will be offered, making it the richest night in Georgian’s history. Pari-mutuel betting will be accepted on all races.

The entertainment will also be fast and furious with concerts between races, an Xtreme Mascot race, celebrity horse photos, pony rides, a petting zoo, mechanical bull, Clydesdale shuttles, Money Machine Madness, a drivers dunk tank and much more.

From the Xtreme Opening Ceremonies at 4:30 p.m. through the X-treme Ironman race, a five lap, 18-horse battle — the event promises to be truly special.
