Riven Hanover a narrow winner in Meadows Series Final

by Evan Pattak for The Meadows

MEADOW LANDS, PA — Riven Hanover enjoyed a pocket trip and used it to fashion a narrow victory in the $34,000 final of the Canton Township Pace for 3-year-old fillies Friday at The Meadows.

Sitting comfortably behind Pavla Hanover, Riven Hanover and Dick Stillings waited until the stretch to make their move. The daughter of The Panderosa needed every inch of the lane to pass the determined Pavla Hanover, eking out a nose victory in 1:54.1, a personal best by two seconds. Pembroke Swifty, who had swept her series divisions but was hampered by post position 9, finished third.

Randy Bendis trains Riven Hanover and owns with Bill Varney and Reed Broadway.

In the $20,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Pace, Streetcarnamedsire prevailed in 1:53.4 over Don’t Blame Her and archrival Kat N Mouse. Streetcarnamedsire and Kat N Mouse have alternated wins in the last four editions of the top distaff pace. Tony Hall drove the daughter of Real Desire for trainer Kent Sherman and the partnership of Sherman, Patterson and Brudner.

Show Me The Monet was an artistic and a financial success in the $20,000 Preferred Trot, scoring a 1-3/4-length “Lightning Lane” win over Maingate Victory at a healthy 6-1. Dyno Trevor finished third.

Hall piloted Show Me The Monet, who has compiled an unusual streak. In his last six starts, he has either won or broken stride. Mike Palone trains the son of Self Possessed for Durazzano Stable.
