Rose’s Picks: June 20 YR

by Matt Rose

Matt Rose offers his picks for the $20,000 Pick-4 at Yonkers Raceway on June 20, part of the USTA Strategic Wagering program.

Yonkers Raceway Pick-4, Races 7-10, Monday, June 20, 2011

Well, I knew it would only be a matter of time before I hit one of these! Last week’s Pick-4 payout was a healthy $881 on a $2 ticket, well beyond what the parlay would have paid, and due to an early scratch, I saved $16 on the ticket price. We’ll go for two in a row tonight.

$1 Play: 6/236/146/1347 = $36

Analysis:

Race 7: (6) Drill Sergeant Sam entered a new barn last week and promptly made a break leaving. He recovered quick enough, made a nice middle move towards the front and was game for second. If he’s got his mind on business, he should fire to the front and take these the distance.

Race 8: (3) JK Cinderella returns to the overnight wars after a failed try in the New York Sire Stakes. Filly looks like the one to beat in this lackluster event. (2) Matt’s Smokin Lil finished well in her last two after ground-saving trips. She’s probably in line for a similar journey tonight. (6) Ride A Cowboy has flashed some speed upstate and she can be considered here.

Race 9: (1) Somethinsgotagive was treated to an eight hole upon arrival, and made up late ground to grab a small share. The gelding stays at the same level tonight, but moves all the way inside, which should make a world of difference. (4) Alexanderthegreatn was accustomed to facing much better when last seen here. He returns at a reduced level and looks like a major player. (6) Luminous Lombo A was poised last week, but failed to fire late. He’s another that gets some class relief tonight, and he picks up George Brennan.

Race 10: (4) Ittakestwobaby beat a lesser field in his local debut at odds-on. The 4-year-old faces no standouts here and the Carl Tirella barn has been going well of late. (1) Bullish Blue Chip was a solid winner last out at the Meadowlands, which stamps him as a prime contender here. (7) Tuff Enuff Hanover was second best last week to the streaking Arts Shadow, and the Scott Blackler charge has the speed to overcome the post. (3) Tylers Rendevous gets some much-needed post relief, and he strung together a couple of good outings here in April.
