Pompano Beach, FL – February 4, 2004 – Samaryllis and driver Wally Hennessey made two big moves in winning the 4th race $6,500 second round of the $40,000 Miss Easy Pacing Series at Pompano Park Wednesday and setting the stakes record with a 1:54.1 clocking for the one mile race.

SAMARYLLIS paces to a stakes record and lifetime mark of 1:54.1 in capturing the second leg of the Miss Easy Pacing Series at Pompano Park Wenesday, February 4.

Samaryllis ($6.00, $2.60, $2.60) won by one and one-half lengths for owner/trainer Rod Lorenzo of Deerfield Beach, Florida.

The race started off with Samaryllis looping three-wide on the first turn to take the lead away from both Bellas Bliss (Michael MacDonald) and Rush Street Blues (Marc Aubin) in :28.1 to the opening quarter mile.

Aubin, who was also on the move on the outside with Rush Street Blues continued to grind his way to the lead before the half mile pole in :56.4.

In the backstretch, MacDonald came back again with Bellas Bliss and was able to take the lead at the three-quarters in 1:25 but down the stretch Hennessey came back with Samaryllis to win it all. Bellas Bliss was second with Thea’s Character (David Ingraham) third.

For Samaryllis, a four-year-old mare by Moonlight Sam, it was her first win in two starts this year. Last week she was second by a head in the opening round of the series.

The previous stakes record for the Miss Easy Pacing Series was 1:54.3 set in an elimination division by Let’s Dance Sis (Bruce Ranger) on March 12, 2003.

Remember Kate, who set the world record for double gaited mares last week, returns to racing action Thursday in the 1st race trot. She would only need to lower her record mile of 1:57.2 last week by one second to tie the all-age world record set by Noble Gill in 2002. Last week was only her third lifetime start on the trot. As a pacer the mare was a stakes winner of more than $99,000 with a record of 1:53.2 at Pompano Park.

“Same goes this week.” Said trainer Jake Huff, “If Bruce Ranger feels she is trotting along OK, then he knows he can let her (Remember Kate) roll on and go for the all-age world record.”
