Scarlet Mczara, Special Sweetheart sweep NJSS races

East Rutherford, NJ — In an impressive upset, 68-1 shot Scarlet Mczara angled between horses to take the first of two $61,400 New Jersey Sire Stakes divisions for 3-year-old filly pacers on Friday night (May 22) at the Meadowlands.

Scarlet Mczara was a 1:51.4 winner in her NJSS division on Friday.

With driver Andy Miller in tow, Scarlet Mczara ($139.00, $35.80, $15.00) split dueling leaders Jkmusicofthenight ($3.80, $3.00) and Amora Hanover ($3.20) to win the night’s fifth race in a lifetime best 1:51.4. The daughter of Western Ideal-Zara was a $5,500 yearling purchase at the New Jersey Classic Sale by The Wiz Kids Stable. She has now won three of nine starts this year for trainer W. Bart Dalious.

In the second NJSS division, Special Sweetheart and driver Eric Goodell swept past competitors down the stretch to take the seventh race of the night in 1:50.4. Trained by Don Swick, the daughter of Western Ideal-Lady’s Special Girl has now won three of nine starts this year. Special Sweetheart was a homebred for owner 4 For 3 Stable.

The NJSS for 3-year-old fillies concludes with a $200,000 championship on Saturday, May 30.
