Sharky Osborne upsets in $37,500 feature at Dover

Dover, DE — Sharky Osborne pulled a surprise in the $37,500 feature, Thin Blue Line took the $35,000 Delaware Special and Ross The Boss N won the $27,500 Open Pace on Monday, Feb. 12 at Dover Downs. The card also featured five wins by the sport’s leading driver Tim Tetrick, who has won five races for the second straight night. Tony Morgan, the 2006 champion, had a triple while Ron Pierce and Brian Sears contributed driving doubles.

Tony Morgan found room in deep stretch to move Gary Minner and Pete Richardson’s 11-1 shot Sharky Osborne through to a 1:51.3 victory in the feature race, giving the driver his third win of the night. Brad Hanners shot Keystone Rodeo into the lead at the start and led at all intervals until the closing strides. Beware Beret and Brian Sears came on to finish third.

Thin Blue Line, racing for Paul McDougall and WJ McDougall Racing Inc., set a personal record of 1:50.2 in winning the $35,000 Delaware Special. Ron Pierce moved the former Michigan champion into the lead on the clubhouse turn and said goodbye to seven rivals to win for the second time in his last four starts. Art Director and Tim Tetrick rolled home second, a length back at the wire. Prince Of Luck and Ross Wolfenden took third.

Roger Plante and Ken Wood’s Ross The Boss N got up for a 1:51.4 win in the $27,500 Open Handicap Pace. Brian Sears and Cheyenne Hollywood closed with a rush to finish second in front of Lotsa Guy and David Miller. The win was the second in his last three for the 9-year-old Falcon Seelster gelding.

Scott Enman’s Armbro Baylor made good use of starting from the rail as Tony Morgan steered the Matt’s Scooter 6-year-old to a 1:52.4 win in a $21,000 Winners Over Pace. Dreamfair Titan, with Tim Tetrick, was best of the rest, finishing second. What A View with Ron Pierce took show honors.

Artchie Andrews, the 6-year-old Artiscape pacer, gave Ron Pierce his second winner in another $21,000 Winners Over Pace. After three consecutive seconds, the Scott Dillon-owned gelding came from off the pace to notch a 1:51.3 victory. Jasper Bob, handled by Tim Tetrick, took second in front of Wizsell and David Miller.

Forrest Bartlett’s American Fury, driven by Brandon Givens, overtook front-pacing Gryffindor and Tim Tetrick in deep stretch to win a third $21,000 Winners Over Pace. Black Reef N with David Miller was third.

Tim Tetrick, who won the first three races, capped off his five-win program with a 1:53 victory behind Glitter For Prez, the second win for owners Bob Rementer and trainer Jason Skinner. Neutron Bomb (Ross Wolfenden) came on for second in front of The Deputy Is Home (Ron Pierce).

Yada Yada Yada A seeks third straight in $27,500 Mares Open

Yada Yada Yada A seeks to win her third in a row in the $27,500 Mare Open Handicap Pace on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at Dover Downs. The $24,000 Jr. Mares Open heads a strong female filled undercard. First post is 4:30 p.m.

This week, Yada Yada Yada A, owned by Steve Iaquinta, Henry King and Ken Wood, leaves from the outside in a field of eight quality distaffs after her consecutive wins. A week ago, Tim Tetrick ushered Wayne Pryor Estate and Wendy Crissman’s Poppy Lustre N from last at the half to within a length of the winner at the wire. Corey Callahan found room along the passing lane to pass horses on the way to a third with Nick Callahan’s Riddlemethat.

Sean Bier cut out the early pace a week ago driving Esther Bier’s Riley Rose, the only 4-year-old in the cast, and though finishing fifth was only 2-3/4 lengths away from victory. Tom Vine and Crystal Ball Stable’s I’m All In gets a big move from post seven to three and will be driven by Ron Pierce. Graham Grace Stable, M&W Stable and trainer Bib Robert’s Keystone Sophie and Jonathan Roberts won this event a month ago. Dance Hall, a strong finisher, drew the rail for Steve Warrington, driving for Don Hawk, John Hynansky and trainer Dan Warrington. The newcomer to the field is Schneidler, Mitchell and Green Racing’s Heavenly Beauty with Brad Hanners at the controls.

The $24,000 Mares Jr. Open has a new look. JoAnn King and JEB Enterprises’ Shake Away with driver Jim King and Pacific Illusion, owned by Sharon White, Louie Paglierani and trainer Wayne Givens, reined by Brandon Givens, both drop down from the Open.

Cavalli Pazzi Stables’ Casino Bus, with Tim Tetrick, won this event last time with Ain’t Goin Back, owned by Rick MacLeish and Kathleen Stafford, with driver Ben Stafford, Jr., finishing second in front of Chris and Phil Stefani’s Dream-A-While, with Art Stafford Jr.

Newman Racing Stable’s Binions with Jim Morand and Three Point Acres’ Ultimate Bet, piloted by Tony Morgan, both return after racing at the Meadowlands. Demorrio Williams and Teague Inc.’s Firiel Hanover, steered by Brad Hanners, has the rail while North State Street Stable and Harness The Power’s Cat Power steps up in class after two straight wins and will be driven by Ron Pierce.

Two $17,500 Mares Winners Over Paces, a $14,000, $13,000 and an $11,000 pace for females are also on the talent loaded Tuesday undercard.
