Sheer Brilliance sharp in Rosecroft qualifier

Ft. Washington, MD — Freshman pacer Sheer Brilliance lived up to his name in a qualifying division at Rosecroft Raceway on Wednesday morning, August 15. The son of Blissfull Hall drew away by over 11 lengths to win with a :27.3 last quarter.
Driven by Vic Kirby for trainer Jeff Long, Sheer Brilliance gained the lead after soft opening quarters of :30.2 and 1:01.1. Pacing to the three-quarter pole in 1:30.2, the colt kicked into another gear to win in 1:58.
Jeff Long co-owns the pacer with J. Paul Long and Lewis Friedman.
In a trotting division, 2-year-old George’s SJ Can scored a pocket trip to win in 2:03.4. Reined by trainer George Teague, Jr. for owner George Foreman, the S J’s Photo colt raced expertly down the stretch to win by over five lengths.
Flaming Diablo was also on cue in her pacing race. The 2-year-old Western Hanover filly worked out a pocket trip to win by 1-1/4 lengths in 2:00.1. Jonathan Roberts drove for trainer Steven LeBlanc. The Parent Racing Stable LLC owns Flaming Diablo.
Live racing returns to Rosecroft this Saturday (August 18) at 7:20 p.m., and the $122,170 Smullin Memorial will highlight the card.
