Snow White, with John Campbell in tow, is now the fastest freshman trotter in harness racing history

John Campbell was in the bike for trainer Kevin Lare as the Self Possessed-Mom’s Millionaire lass shattered the previous mark for 2-year-olds on a mile track, 1:53.4, set earlier this year by the colt Muscle Mass. It also bettered CR Commando’s 1:53.2 score at Colonial Downs in 1998. Snow White previously shared the 1:54.2 mark for a freshman trotting filly with Possess The Magic.

Starting from post four in the field of eight, Snow White sat fifth at the rail through opening fractions of :28.3 and :56. Heading down the backstretch, Campbell took her three-wide and she trotted past the field as if they were standing still. Snow White easily got to the front end and opened up several lengths on the field at the 1:24.3 three-quarter pole. She still had plenty left in the tank, posting a :28.1 final panel to reach the wire in the world record clocking of 1:52.4.

Snow White defeated runner-up Muscles Joy and third place finisher Nicole Kraft.

“I think we all knew she was a great filly,” said trainer Kevin Lare, “but 1:52.4 — I didn’t really think she could do that.”

Snow White has nine wins in 10 lifetime starts. With her share of Tuesday’s purse, she lifted her lifetime earnings to $586,217.

“She was very big and growthy (as a youngster), but has been world class from day one,” added Lare. “She can get moody, but John (Campbell) has done an excellent job of keeping her calm.

“(A world record at Lexington) was in the back of our minds, but John and I never talked about it.”

The other divisional winners in the International Stallion Stake 2-year-old filly trot on Tuesday were No Pain No Gain (1:56), Timeless Winner (1:55.1) and Poster Pin Up (1:56.3).
