Columbus, OH — Somwherovrarainbow, who opened up her 4-year-old campaign with a trio of victories in March, has been named Horse of the Month by the United States Trotting Association.

A daughter of two Horse of the Year winners — stallion Somebeachsomewhere and mare Rainbow Blue — Somwherovrarainbow was the 2012 Dan Patch Award winner for best 2-year-old filly pacer. Last year, she won five of 14 races and earned $359,103. After her March efforts, Somwherovrarainbow pushed her career totals to 15 victories and $937,509.

Somwherovrarainbow has been named Horse of the Month by the United States Trotting Association.

Bred by trainer George Teague Jr. and K & R Racing, she was owned most of last year by Teague, K & R Racing and Ted Gewertz. As of November, she has been owned by Gewertz and Diamond Creek Racing. She is trained by Joe Holloway and was driven in March by Tim Tetrick and Brian Sears.

Somwherovrarainbow opened up the month on March 14 in a $22,500 B1/A2 handicap for fillies and mares at Meadowlands Racetrack. With Tetrick in the bike, the mare rolled to a 6-3/4 length triumph over Pan Luis Obispo in a time of 1:49.1, with a final quarter in :27.

Her next two starts were in $40,000 Blue Chip Matchmaker races at Yonkers. She won on March 21 in 1:52.4 by a nose over Krispy Apple, then came back on March 28 to post a 1:53 triumph by one length over Yagonnakissmeornot. Sears was the pilot for both of her Yonkers triumphs.

“Obviously she was a good horse before,” Holloway said to Harness Racing Communications’ Ken Weingartner prior to her March starts. “I think she’s considerably better than she was at the end of last year. She’s put on weight and doing well.”
