Monticello, NY — On Monday, August 27, three divisions of New York Sires Stakes sophomore pacing fillies will compete for nearly $345,000 at Monticello Raceway, with each division worth more than $113,000, which is not far from the amount which will be offered in the 3-year-old NYSS Final on September 15.

Some very impressive 3-year-old fillies will take center stage on Monday with each division loaded with talent. The NYSS events are carded as races three, five and seven on the 12-race card.

The first $115,585 split pits Lislea Phia, Hannna’s Delight and J K Pure Pearl.

Brian Cross will drive Lislea Phia, a daughter of Lislea who has a record of 1:52.2 and is already a winner of over $120,000 for owner Tim Rooney. They’ll start from post position five in race three.

Hanna’s Delight, a Bettor’s Delight filly with a 1:55.4h mark has amassed over $88,000 for owner Albert Hanna and J K Pure Pearl, another Bettor’s Delight filly, owned by the 3 Brothers Stable, William Jacobowitz and the Camelot Stable, is a winner of over $97,000 with a record of 1:54.2. Jimmy Morrill, Jr. will handle the former and start from post one while Stephane Bouchard gets the call behind the latter and will race away from the seven hole.

Betting Machine and Jimmy Morrill appear to be the ones to beat in the second $113,585 split, race five on the card. The daughter of Bettor’s Delight, from the powerful George Teague barn, has amassed a bankroll in excess of $103,000 to go along with a 1:53 race record.

Among those looking to gun her down will be Pancleefandarpels, an Erv Miller pupil who’ll start from the rail position with Billy Parker, Jr. at the controls. This Noble Ability filly has a 1:52 record and has earned over $67,000 thus far for Bob Glazer’s Peter Pan Stable.

A final $115,585 division features Sky Queen, JK Let It Ride and Winbak Delight.

Sky Queen, a Pro Bono Best filly with Jimmy Morrill, Jr. at the controls, will start from the rail position. She has a 1:53.3h mark and has earned over $63,000 for David Scharf, Lightning 5 Racing Stable, Meadow Vernon Stable and Ernest Adam.

JK Let It Ride, from the Linda Toscano stable, will come into the event off two consecutive victories, the fastest a 1:52.1 clocking at Vernon Downs on July 31. This Bettor’s Delight filly, owned by the 3 Brothers Stable, has a $32,000 bankroll and Stephane Bouchard will handle the driving chores and start from the six hole.

Winbak Delight, yet another Bettor’s Delight filly, will be the obvious local favorite with local teamster Gary Messenger at the controls. A 1:56.4 record filly with purses in excess of $46,000, she’s owned by Ken Weckstein and Richard Rubin and will start as a trailer from post position nine in race number seven.
