Sophomore trotters to compete in Race Funds at Rosecroft

FT. WASHINGTON, MD — Done Dreamen and Kodac Flash are both favored in their separate divisions of the Maryland Standardbred Race Fund for three-year-old trotting colts and geldings at Rosecroft Raceway on Tuesday.

In the first division worth $16,000, Done Dreamen will leave the gate from post five with Corey Braden in the bike. Set to open on the board as the 6-5 early choice, the Donerail gelding was a winner his last start at Rosecroft with a mile timed in 1:58.3. Trained by Ken Schotzhauer, Done Dreamen shows strong lines on the Maryland oval as well as a lifetime best of 1:58.2. Racing for owner Kelley Rogers, the gelding has just over $65,000 in lifetime earnings.

Honolulu Hunk, a dominant force on the Maryland stakes circuit in 2005, drew post two and will have trainer Jerry Nock at his lines. The son of Program Speed earned a line of 6-2-1 across the board from nine starts in 2005 and banked over $58,000. The colt recently qualified at Rosecroft, finishing second in 2:02.0 behind the tough On Time Windswept. Bill Clark, Jr. owns Honolulu Hunk.

At 4-1 odds, Yankee Sherwood will make his debut on the Rosecroft oval from the rail position. The Lindy Lane gelding took a mark of 2:02.1 at Northfield this year with trainer Sam Schillaci in the sulky. Owned by the partnership of Jodi Schillaci and Egidio Dipaola, the gelding has been on the board three of four seasonal starts.

Fire Step (Frank Milby, 10-1), J’s Love Song (Chris Offutt (8-1) and Juice On The Loose (Jewett Pumphrey, 8-1) complete the field.

In race 5, a field of seven will contest a purse of $16,200. The overwhelming choice at 4-5 is Kodac Flash for the Sweet and Sassy Stable II. The SJ’s Photo gelding shows a recent victory at Pocono Downs in 1:56.4 from post six. Trained and driven by David Wade, the gelding has been on the board both of his seasonal starts and will face the field from post seven.

Onstar K, at 5-1 odds, drew post position three for owner/trainer/driver Bill Long. The Go Get Lost gelding had a successful freshman campaign with a line of 2-3-1 across the board from seven starts. A winner two lines back at Rosecroft Raceway in 2:02.1, Onstar K has nearly $20,000 in lifetime earnings.

Rounding out the top three is Easily Distracted at 6-1 odds. Owned and trained by Boyd Hudson, the Country Boy Abe colt finished third last week at Rosecroft in 2:02.2. Corey Braden has been given the driving assignment.

Hunting Lodge (John Wagner, 10-1), Ben Joe’s Way (Walter Callahan, 8-1), Capital Campaign (John Gazzerro, 8-1) and Irish Boy (Mark Clark, 10-1) will also face the starter.
