Spotlight to shine on Montana Moonlite A

by Michael Costanzo, public relations coordinator, Pompano Park

Pompano Beach, FL — With divisional leaders Tintabella N and My Metallica absent from the Friday (June 8) program at Pompano Park, Montana Moonlite A takes center stage in the featured $14,500 Fillies and Mares non-winners pace from the South Florida oval.

Owned by John Campagnuolo and Larry Silber, Montana Moonlite A has been defeated by either Tintabella N or My Metallica in each of her last six starts. In her most recent appearance, the daughter of Fake Left finished third, beaten 3-3/4 lengths while checking in behind both of those rivals.

A winner at Pompano on April 20 when pacing the mile in 1:53.2, Montana Moonlite A has been installed as the 5-2 morning line favorite for the Friday feature. The Jacques Dupuis-trained mare starts from post five with John Kakaley at the lines.

Diane Norris and Clifford Grundy’s Icu Miss is listed as the 7-2 second choice in the morning line for the Friday feature.

Two starts ago, the 7-year-old daughter of Camluck was a convincing winner while covering the mile in 1:54, and the Gordon Norris-trained mare exits a sixth place performance in last week’s female pacing feature when starting from post seven.

Icu Miss will get a positive shift in post, drawing post two for Friday’s pace, and will be driven by Dan Clements.

Evere’s Connection enters the Friday feature off a winning performance last week in 1:55.3 for owner Robert Gianquitti. The Daniel Hennessey-trained daughter of Village Connection was making her second appearance at Pompano in that event after shipping down from Pocono Downs in May.

Evere’s Connection has drawn post four for the Friday feature and will be driven by Wally Hennessey.

The feature race will go as the fifth event on a 10-race program from Pompano that begins at 7:25 p.m.
