St Elmo Hero remained perfect in 18 starts with a 1:50.4 win on Monday.

The 4-year-old son of Western Hero floated to the front on the first turn, clearing 9-2 second choice Ab’s Attack (Yannick Gingras) at the completion of a :27.2 first quarter. There on in, St Elmo Hero faced no opposition to speak of, coasting through a controlled middle half, reaching three-quarters completion in 1:23 before pulling away on the far turn.

At the head of the stretch, St Elmo Hero kicked away under minimal encouragement from Tim Tetrick, sprinting six lengths clear to score his 18th career win in as many starts in 1:50.4. Ab’s Attack was a clear second, while B Lo Zero (Andy Miller) led the second flight throughout to muster third.

Yannick Gingras took the other two Blue Route divisions, teaming up with Ron Burke trainees No Monkeys Allowed ($3.40, 1:52.4) and Meirs Hanover ($2.40, 1:51.2).

In addition to his win aboard St Elmo Hero, Tetrick teamed up with trainer Nick Surick to take two of three $25,000 I-95 divisions, at the helm with Vertical Horizon ($4.40, 1:51) and Schoolkids ($4.20, 1:51.4). McRaes Mate ($7.00) and Mark Lewis took the other I-95 split in 1:51.4.

The finals for the Blue Route and I-95 series will take place on Monday, Dec. 20. Third round Road to Riches action continues on Tuesday (Dec. 14), with first post slated for 12:45 p.m. (EST).
