Stakes record for PJs Photo in Lifetime Dream final

Toronto, ON — Driven by Paul MacDonell, PJs Photo earned her biggest payday of her career tonight at Woodbine Racetrack as she captured the C$60,000 Lifetime Dream Stakes final in a stakes record time of 1:55.3.

PJs Photo earned her sixth straight victory and eighth lifetime.

In the early going, Jetta Lady (Mario Baillargeon) controlled the tempo from post seven posting first quarter speed of :28, ahead of Keystone Ballerina (Phil Hudon) and heavy favorite, PJs Photo.

MacDonell was not content sitting third and angled PJs Photo to the outside as Jetta Lady went past the half in :58. The pair were side-by-side past three-quarters in 1:27 with Keystone Ballerina enjoying a pocket trip.

Down the stretch, under little urging, PJs Photo surged past Jetta Lady and opened up on her rivals to score an easy victory for trainer Darren Harvey and owner Puis Soehnlen of Canton, Ohio. Classic Alana (Randy Waples) came from well off the pace to finish second with Miss Dangles (Rick Zeron) third.

A daughter of SJs Photo, PJs Photo earned her sixth straight victory and eighth lifetime.

San Pail & Action Broadway take Glorys Comet splits

A pair of C$40,000 Glorys Comet eliminations took place tonight at Woodbine Racetrack with millionaire San Pail and Action Broadway capturing the victories.

San Pail extended his unbeaten streak to eight as he posted an open-length victory in 1:53.4 for regular pilot Randy Waples.

Up Front Ben (Mike Saftic) posted the quickest speed off the gate from post five and took his rivals past the opening panel in :26.4, ahead of Define The World (Paul MacDonell) and race favourite, San Pail (Randy Waples).

Heading towards the half, Define The World overtook command but that would not last long as San Pail as on the move and struck the front past the half in :56.1.

San Pail, a son of San Pellegrino, took his six rivals past three-quarters in 1:24.2 and into the stretch. As the field turned for home, San Pail opened up on his rivals and pocket-sitter Define The World could not match strides.

San Pail would go on to score an easy victory for trainer and co-owner Rod Hughes along with Glenn Van Camp. Structure Fire (Jason Brewer) used a late rally to finish second with Define The World fading to third.

San Pail, a likely O’Brien Award winner for Canada’s best Older Trotter, earned his 36th career victory.

In the other elimination, Action Broadway made her racing debut for trainer Gregg McNair a winning one.

In the early stages, Armbro Chronicle and regular pilot Mike Saftic finally cleared to the lead past Pembroke Player (Chris Christoforou) after the opening quarter in :29.

Armbro Chronicle, a winner of over $1.6 million, then led his four rivals past the half in :57.4 and three-quarters in 1:26.1.

Around the final turn, Before He Cheats (Jason Brewer) angled to the outside and attacked first-over with Action Broadway behind him.

Late in the mile, Zeron showed Action Broadway clear racetrack and she surged past her opponents to score the victory in 1:54.3, over Before He Cheats and Armbro Chronicle.

Action Broadway, a four-year-old daughter of Broadway Hall, earned her 10th lifetime for owner Ken Sommer.

Next week’s C$125,000 Glorys Comet Final will line up as follows:
