Berlin, MD — Leading driver Rick Still, defending driving champ Corey Braden and veteran driver W. (David) Hill III each had driving doubles on Wednesday night at Ocean Downs.

Still brought home four-year-old Kitty’s Tom Cat in the second race for the gelding’s fourth win in his last five starts, three of those wins coming at Ocean Downs.

Still followed that victory with his 34th win of the meet in the bike behind six-year-old mare New York Doll, her second win this summer at the Ocean Oval.

The driving champion the last two years, Corey Braden was a winner in the sixth race behind five-year-old mare Woodmere BJ, who now has two Ocean Downs wins this summer and four for the year.

Braden’s eighth race win was in the sulky behind four-year-old Pride Package, who now has two wins in four starts this summer.

W. (David) Hill’s two wins were with Frank Burnham-trained horses. Misty Carolina won the fourth race, coming all the way from outside.

“I just took a shot at leading with her. Hopefully, there was a hole that would open up so I could get in it because the eight hole is hard on a half-mile track. I just took a shot leaving and when I came with her, she came good…she showed a little more gate speed than what she showed on the program,” Hill said.

Five-year-old Your Airness won the seventh race for her fifth win this year, but first this summer at Ocean Downs. Hill remembers her.

“Yeah I won with her last year in (1):574 here..she’s a gritty little mare, she’ll try.”

Hill now has eight wins this summer.

Ray Robinson, Jr. recorded a ninth race win behind Art Man and the driving champ in 1999, 2000 and 2001 now has 24 wins for the current meet which has only 13 race dates remaining. “Shorty” Robinson is in second place, ten wins behind Rick Still.

A good crowd of 2,330 was on hand under ideal conditions. Racing resumes Thursday with a first post at 7:25 p.m. The live meet concludes Saturday, August 28.
