East Rutherford, NJ — Stormies Girl ($5.40, $3.80, $3.80) coasted to a one length tally and her seventh consecutive victory in the fifth race $40,000 mares open pace on Friday night at the Meadowlands.

Stormies Girl, driven by David Miller and trained by Darby Miller, paced the mile in 1:544. It was a length back to Figure the Odds ($22.00, $8.60) in second and Her Own Art ($4.20) in third.

Champion mare Worldly Beauty, a $1.8 million earner, was making her first start since October and finished fifth.

Stormies Girl, owned by the JML Stables of Heathrow, Florida, and the Three Ring Circus Stable of Buffalo, New York, pushed her lifetime bankroll to $81,624.

“She raced good,” said David Miller, who was driving the four-year-old mare for the first time. “It was a cheap half (:58 seconds), which certainly didn’t hurt her. But she still came real stong down to the wire.”

Trainer Darby Miller explained that the daughter of Stand Forever had been acquired privately at the end of November and has both the Night Styles (starting February 19) and Jersey Girls Series (March 10) at the Meadowlands on her schedule.

“It was her first start back,” said Mike Lachance of Worldly Beauty. “There were slow fractions in the race, and I had to come first up. I couldn’t get into her as much as I wanted. The start should help her tighten up a bit.”

Worldly Beauty is nominated to the Cape & Cutter Series, which starts February 6 and the Overbid Series, which kicks off on March 12.
