Pompano Beach, FL – July 18, 2006 – The Sunshine Stakes for Florida-bred two and three-year-old trotters and pacers gets underway Wednesday at Pompano Park. Total purses for the six-week series are in excess of $400,000.

The trotters are in the limelight Wednesday with last year’s top two-year-old trotting colt, Admiral Nemo heading the 3rd race. In one of the two filly trot divisions for three-year-old, J P Sage, a winner in 7 of 10 starts and $51,000 last season, starts from post one in the first race for trainer/driver Stephen Lareau and takes on six-time winner last year, Fimo, who starts from post six for driver Bruce Ranger.

The two and three-year-old filly pacers compete in the Sunshine Stakes on Friday and the colts and geldings start their first round of preliminary competition on Saturday.

In the 6th race $10,000 Preferred Handicap Trot Wednesday, Tweedle Dum goes for his 14th win of the year from post eight for driver Walter Ross, Jr.
