Surtees Hanover won’t race in Stanley Dancer

by Karsten Bonsdorf, USTA web newsroom correspondent

Surtees Hanover has arrived in the United States, but will not race in the Stanley Dancer Memorial eliminations on July 4.

The horse has been in quarantine and will leave that shortly. However, he had to qualify before racing in the United States and that could only be done one day before the eliminations, on Thursday, July 3.

But according to trainer Roger Wallman that doesn’t matter (that he will not race in the Dancer). “We have the Hambletonian as our main target,” he says.

Johan Untersteiner will come to the United States next week to drive Surtees Hanover in the qualifier. He will also drive the horse in the Hambletonian.
