EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – June 15, 2006 –Tasty Max [$11.80, $5.00, $3.40] capitalized on a second-over trip and held off a late-surging Blue Mac Lad [$3.60, $2.80] by a neck to win the $24,000 third race, one of three New Jersey Sire Stakes divisions for trotting three-year-old colts and geldings, on Thursday night at the Meadowlands.

Tasty Max, driven by John Campbell, trotted the mile in a lifetime best 1:56. It was three and a half lengths back to Man About Town [$4.60] in third.

“He had a good trip,” the Hall of Fame driver said. “He was second over into the stretch. He wasn’t real solidly gaited through the stretch, but he stayed on stride enough and kept going forward enough to win.”

Trained by Paul Wojtowicz, Tasty Max has four wins in eight starts this year, along with one second and one third. He increased his earnings to $36,225.

“He’s been a pleasant surprise,” Wojtowicz said. “I’m just happy he’s doing as well as he is. I hope it continues one more week in the [NJSS] finals.”

Tasty Max is owned by Marvin Meyer of New York, New York.

The winners of the other New Jersey Sire Stakes divisions on Thursday night were: Make You Mine [race five, 1:55.1] and DC’s Piggy Bank [race six, 1:55.1].

The top 10 money earners in the preliminary legs will meet in the $175,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes Championship on June 22 at the Meadowlands.
