Monticello, NY — Talk about winning a lot with just a little. A lucky off-track superfecta bettor raked down $4,922.25 for a ten cent wager.
It happened at Monticello Raceway in the seventh race on the Monday, March 23, program after horses with the saddlecloth numbers 7-8-5-1 finished in that exact order.
To win a superfecta wager a bettor must correctly identify the exact order of the first four finishers.
The race winner (#7) Julia’s Girl paid $22.00, $12.20 and $7.20 across the board. The second place finisher Greystone Carrie (#8) paid $24.00 for place and $6.90 for show while the third place finisher (#5) Riverboat Roni paid $7.80 for finishing third. The fourth place finisher (#1) Classy Ivory went off at odds of 4-1. The two betting favorites in the race were off the board.
Based on a two dollar wager the superfecta paid $98,445.00.
According to those in the know the beauty of the 10-cent superfecta wager is that it allows a bettor to criss-cross more combinations while not spending a fortune to do so.
