Campbellville, ON – Windsong Espoir added to his building reputation as the premier rookie trotting colt in North America with another thoroughly dominant win in Sunday’s $$130,000 OSS Gold Final at Mohawk for driver Steve Condren in 1:55.4.

The clocking established a new OSS record for 2-year-old colt trotters and just missed the track record he co-owns with Glidemaster by a fifth of a second.

The son of Kadabra- Diamond Image was forced to watch things from off the pace in the early going as the battling leaders put up a hot first quarter of :27.4. Once things settled on the front end, Condren made a decisive move and jetted the flawlessly-gaited colt to the front right at the half in :57.2.

From there, it was another walk in the park for Windsong Espoir who took the field past three-quarters in 1:27.2 before turning on the afterburners with a :28.2 final quarter to win going away. Longshot O U Gus landed the place spot with last week’s other elimination winner, Sergeant York, finishing third.

“I was hoping for a second-over trip tonight to be honest, but it just didn’t work out that way,” said winning driver Steve Condren. “Once the air came on up front, I had to go. He just covers the ground effortlessly but he’s going fast too. I’m really happy for the connections.”

Tonight’s victory was the sixth in a row for the Brad Maxwell trainee whose only loss came in his first lifetime start when he finished third in the second round of the Bridger Trotting Series.
