Cranbury, NJ — The Breeders Crown, harness racing’s divisional championship series, kicks into gear next week with supplemental entries due and payable on Monday, August 18, at 12:00 noon (EDT) in the racing secretary’s office at Mohawk Racetrack.

The four Open events, worth $1.6 million, have finals scheduled for Saturday, August 30, along with the rich Metro and She’s A Great Lady stakes.

Supplemental payments in the year of the race also make a horse eligible to subsequent year’s Breeders Crown events under the normal schedule of payments. A minimum of 50 percent of all supplemental fees are added to the purse.

The $600,000 Breeders Crown Trot carries a supplemental fee of $75,000. The 2007 edition was the first won by a supplement when Equinox Bi was placed first after Corleone Kosmos rolled offstride at the wire. The $250,000 Mare Trot has a supplemental fee of $31,250.

On the pacing side, the $500,000 Breeders Crown Pace can be entered for a supplemental fee of $62,500. The $300,000 distaff pacing Crown division demands a $37,500 fee to supplement.

Regular declarations for all other horses kept eligible by the required sustaining payments in 2008 are due Tuesday, August 19, by 10:30 a.m. at the Woodbine Entertainment race office at Mohawk Raceway.

All purse and supplemental amounts are in U.S. funds; all purses are guaranteed. All Breeders Crown eligibles and racing conditions can be found at www.Hambletonian.org.
