Top fillies in Florida Sunshine Stakes Friday

Pompano Beach, Florida – July 21, 2005 – The two top rated Florida-bred three-year-old pacing fillies, Greatest Of All and Youngbro Fancy, head separate divisions of the Florida Sunshine Stakes Series Friday at Pompano Park.

Greatest Of All, who won 6 of 10 starts and $55,000 last year starts from post seven in the $6,066 first race for trainer/driver Robert Williams, Jr. The daughter of Miami Mogul, bred and owned by Williams wife, Amelia, of Bell, FL is the 7/2 second choice in the race and is making her seasonal debut in the Florida Sunshine Stakes.

The 5/2 morning line favorite is Cardigan from post five. Sired by Raging Glory, Cardigan is also making her three-year-old debut and comes into the race off a sharp 1:58.3 qualifying win for driver Daryl Bier.

Youngbro Fancy, who won 6 of 13 starts and $43,000 last year, starts from post six in the 2nd race $6,066 second division for driver Wally Hennessey. Sired by Matt’s Amore, Youngbro Fancy was second in her qualifying race losing to the top colt, Florida Boy, in 1:59.3. She is listed at odds of 6-1.

The 2-1 favorite is Cherry from the far outside in post eight for driver John Kakaley. Trained by James Langley for the ABC Farms of Pelham Manor, NY, Cherry already has 11 starts this year, has yet to finish worse than third in her past seven starts including a lifetime mark of 1:56.2.

There is also a $6,168 division of the FL Sunshine Stakes for two-year-old pacing fillies in the 4th race. The 2-1 favorite is a first-time starter, Goldstar Bonaire from post five for driver Bruce Ranger.

Sired by Starfleets Command, Goldstar Bonaire was very impressive in her qualifying race, winning by nine open lengths in 2:00.1. She was bred and is owned by Thomas Audley of Bell.

Second choice in the race is the entry of Fly Italia and Glamour Girl Scoot which were bred and are owned by Anthony Amante and Christine Garrity’s Sunshine State Steeds Stable of Delray Beach. Fly Italia is the stronger part of the entry and starts from post five for trainer/driver Marc Aubin. In her last start she was second in the $12,100 final of the Seminole Pacing Series while Glamour Girl Scoot, who starts from post two for driver John Kakaley is making only her second pari-mutuel start.

On Saturday the colts are in action in the Florida Sunshine Stakes with four divisions for two and three-year-old pacers headlined by the 2005 debut of $64,000 winner Florida Boy. There will also be prize drawings throughout the night for patrons to win betting vouchers, tickets to upcoming Florida Marlins baseball games and the grand prize of a 32″ color television.
