Top trotters to square off at Pompano Park

Pompano Beach, Florida – April 26, 2005 – Three of the top trotters at Pompano Park this season, Ultimate Sundance, Dunkster and Guy Gets Girl, will battle it out Wednesday in the Open Handicap Trot.

Dunkster is the 2-1 slight favorite from post six after winning for the third time this season with a 1:55.3 triumph in his last start. The six-year-old chestnut gelding by Striking Sahbra is trained by Fred Grant and will be driven by Tom Sells. They have won three of their last six starts, all in the Open class.

Guys Gets Girl gets the nod as the 3-1 second choice from post eight after finishing second by a half-length to Dunkster in their last meeting. He has also won three of his last six starts and will be driven by David Ingraham.

The 9/2 third choice in the race is the winningest horse from last year, Ultimate Sundance, who scored 15 times in 2004 and has three win this year, two in his last four starts for driver Bruce Ranger. Ultimate Sundance starts from post seven and two starts back had won in this class in a lifetime best 1:54.4 victory.

Other contenders include track record holder Lori Louise (post 2), who is one of only two mares in the race and Muscle Boss Vita (post 5), who is coming off a 1:57.2 triumph last week, his second win this year.

Chucaro Ahijuna, the Argentinean-bred world champion double gated harness horse that set the track record for trotters at Pompano Park this season in 1:53.3, will represent the United States this May in two of Europe’s most prestigious events, the Grand Prix in Oslo, Norway May 15 and the Elitlopp on May 29 at Solvalla Racecourse in Stockholm, Sweden.
