Trot For Rock scores in Cal Sires Stake

from Cal-Expo Raceway

Sacramento, CA — Capitol Racing at Cal-Expo presented a California Sires Stake for three-year-old trotting colts and geldings as the feature race on Wednesday evening, May 25. Seven geldings and three colts showed up to race for a piece of the $20,000 purse.

Trot For Rock, the odds-on favorite, won in a lifetime best 2:00 flat.

Bruce Clarke took second choice Webstar out from the inside and grabbed the lead with Steve Desomer and Trot For Rock right behind in the pocket. Not for long, however, as Lou Pena rushed Tys Star from the 10 post to the lead just past the opening quarter. Rick Plano followed that move with Blaz’n Joy. Now, Desomer moved Trot For rock right in behind Blaz’n Joy and Webstar was boxed. Clarke dropped Webstar back to get out from behind the now laboring Tys Star and now was fourth on the outside and third over.

Just before the three-quarters Desomer took Trot For Rock three-wide and Webstar followed that move but could never overhaul the winner who won by a half length. Keith Willey got K D Rowdy One up for third. Blaz’n Joy was fourth and Tys Star was fifth.

Monique Seibold of Sacramento owns the winner and Vickie Desomer trains him. He is by Trot For Joy and out of the Rowdy Yankee dam Charming Spirit. He now has four wins in six starts this year.
