Tug River Princess wins again

by Matt Sparacino, publicity director, Harrington Raceway

Harrington, DE — Michael and Ann Tait’s Tug River Princess ($2.80, Eddie Davis, Jr.) improved to three-for-three lifetime with a 1:57.2 triumph on Sunday, September 9, at Harrington Raceway.

The 2-year-old Badlands Hanover filly set all the fractions and opened up two lengths on Beaver Creek Katie in the stretch. She’s Got Appeal finished third.

Tug River Princess is the only freshman pacer with multiple victories at Harrington so far this year. She is trained by Craig McInnis. She began her career on August 15, when she overcame a horse stumbling in front of her, impeding her progress, and still came away with a 2:00.1 victory. She followed that with a first-over 1:56.4 victory, etching her as a major early threat in the upcoming DSBF (Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund) stakes, which get underway in October.

Drivers Corey Callahan and Tony Morgan won four races on the card. Ross Wolfenden registered a driving triple.
