Twelve enter Breeders Crown Mare Trot

Cranbury, N.J. — An even dozen of North America’s top trotting mares forced a single elimination race to be contested Friday, August 22 to reach a field of 10 for the US$250,000 (C$266,075) Breeders Crown Mare Trot final, one of four open events scheduled for Saturday, August 30, at Mohawk Raceway in Campbellville, Ontario, Canada.

Trainer Trond Smedshammer opted for byes for his two entrants, Armbro Flight winner Falls For You and Classic Oaks winner Godiva Hall, leaving a field of ten to race for the eight remaining spots on the gate.

The elimination field includes 2006 sophomore Crown titlist Susie’s Magic, Armbro Flight elimination winner Up Front Hotsey, and Vulcanize, a winner of more than $600,000 last year for trainer Bob McIntosh, who is still seeking a return to the winners circle in 2008 after just five starts.
