Tyler A in 1:51.3, 99-1 shot wins at Harrington

HARRINGTON, Del. – There was a little something for everyone on the Tuesday card at Harrington Raceway. A solid feature race with top distaff mares, a $40,000 claimer winning in an astounding 1:51.3, and a 99-to-1 managed to win all on the same card.

In the featured $15,000 Filly and Mare Open, Dan Warrington, Don Hawk and John Hynansky’s Jenny’s Picnic (1:54) won her fifth race of the year. Driver Victor Kirby surged late with the 5-year-old Incredible Finale mare and edged out Crossfire N and Yada Yada Yada A.

In the next race, Brent Outten and Virginia Fisher’s Tyler A (Tony Morgan) set all the fractions in won in a lifetime best of 1:51.3, which is the second fastest mile ever at Harrington Raceway and one of the five fastest on a half mile track this year. The $40,000 claimer earned his fifth win of the year for trainer Josh Green.
Martin Jarrell’s Brandi Bess Beach ($220.80) made a long shot player’s dream a reality with a win at odds of 99-to-1. It was her first win in eight starts this year. Driven by Roger Plante Jr., the 7-year-old Beach Towel mare got by tiring leaders Beaver Creek Suzie and Nairobi Hanover late for a 1:56 triumph.
The draw for the 6th Annual $150,000 First State Free-for-All is Wednesday. Some of the sport’s top older pacers are expected for the event, which will be raced Monday May 29.
