EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – Up Front Jan-E-Lu, who had her winning streak snapped at nine last week, rebounded to capture the $50,000 White Ruffles Final on Thursday night at the Meadowlands.

The four-year-old daughter of Dragon Again claimed the lead just past the half and powered to a three and a half-length victory in 1:53.3, a lifetime best.

Perfect Sign [$12.40, $8.00] was second best, and it was four and a quarter lengths to Western Miracle [$8.20] in third.

“I was just kind of trying to work my way to the front, pick up some cover on the backside,” said Brian Sears, who scored his first White Ruffles victory. “The half wasn’t that bad, 57.3, and she was pretty strong from there.

“She’s got a lot of ability,” Sears added. “She raced real well. She got a lot of talent and gets over the ground good.”

Trained by Nat Varty, Up Front Jan-E-Lu races for C. Ed Mullinax of Amherst, Ohio. She has now banked $70,970 with 13 wins, four seconds and one third from 22 career starts.
