Toronto, ON — Voelz Hanover and Ms Goliath were both victorious in Monday night’s (October 20) pair of C$40,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold eliminations for 3-year-old filly pacers at Woodbine Racetrack. It is the final Gold event of the season in this division.

In the opening contest, Voelz Hanover left alertly from post four and took early command before yielding to the heavily favored Chancey Lady just past the first quarter in :27 seconds. The daughter of Astreos-Vassar Hanover followed the pacesetter the rest of the way before tipping out at the top of the stretch and thundering past for a 1:51.2 tally. Chancey Lady held on for second with I’m Just Special landing the show spot. The winner returned $14.50.

It was the fourth win of the campaign in 14 starts for the Ben Baillargeon trainee and boosted her career earnings to just over C$442,000 for owner Richard Berthiaume.

Ms Goliath used a take-no-prisoners approach in the second elimination and wired the field for driver Sylvain Filion in 1:52.4. Style Semalu rallied to pick up the place spot with Shipps Bikini finishing third.

The victory was the sixth in 23 starts this season for the Jason Libby trainee and improved her earnings to just over C$118,000 for owners Ecurie Synergie. She returned $6.70 for the win.

The C$140,000 OSS Gold Final will go next Monday night (October 27) at Woodbine. It will be the last Gold event for the sophomore filly pacers as they gear up for the OSS Super Final on November 15 at Woodbine.
